Romaxx Surfaces & Material Handling
Although Romaxx is a man made material it shares a number of traits with natural stone surfaces. Whether you are working with it in a fabrication shop or are taking it to an installation site, you will no doubt have to handle Romaxx more than once. This means using engineered quartz equipment. In this article we are going to explore some of the equipment that is used to transport, position, and maneuver Romaxx material.
How is Material Handling Defined?
Are you wondering what material handling entails? Discussing material handling and Romaxx products in depth would take quite a bit of time. But let's look at just three facets of Romaxx material handling. 1) moving Romaxx slabs, 2) loading and unloading them, and 3) storing them in a warehouse or slab yard. These aspects of material handling apply to any natural or man made product that exists in slab form; including Romaxx.
Romaxx Storage Equipment
Storage is an important part of material handling. in fact, a Romaxx slab might sit in storage for a while before it is actually used as a countertop. Having somewhere to store a slab of Romaxx is important then. Because of this, many fabrication shops choose to use a hippo Romaxx slab rack to keep the slabs in until they are ready for use.
Equipment for Transporting Romaxx
Fabrication shops require a number of pieces of equipment to operate smoothly. One of those is a Romaxx single sided a frame cart or similar product. Why is that the case? Well, the easiest way to say it is that it makes the work easier and smoother by allowing the Romaxx slabs to be moved on a fixture rather than without one. Some of the transport carts can have casters (wheels) added to them so they can be loaded and rolled. Whether you are using a rolling cart in the shop or an a-frame along a wall of the delivery van, these units are practical.
Romaxx Loading Equipment
In the shop Romaxx slabs, like other surface materials must be lifted during the loading and unloading process. To do this, workers will inevitably reach for some kind of lifter to pick up the sheet or slab of Romaxx. This because the weight of the slab requires one to get a good hold of the slab. One of the machines they reach for is a scissor clamp for lifting Romaxx slabs which is able to get ahold of the slab and keep it until the operator causes the device to release the stone.
In conclusion, having the proper material handling equipment for managing Romaxx products is not really all that different from what you would need to handle natural stone surfaces. Like any engineered quartz, working with Romaxx takes various products that are designed to lift, transport, and load large slabs of product.
