Terrastone Surfaces & Material Handling
Fabricating Terrastone involves a number of techniques and tools that are common to hard surfaces of differing types. Whether the material is a natural stone or a man made material like Terrastone is, it must be handled, maneuvered, loaded, and unloaded. This takes various engineered quartz equipment. In the fabrication shop and on the road, there are occasions where Terrastone must be handled. In this article we will briefly look at some of these times.
What is Meant by Material Handling?
The first logical place to begin when discussing Terrastone material handling is with the definition. So how is material handling defined? Well, we will get into a fuller definition later, but we will only elaborate on three basic aspects of it as it regards Terrastone. First, storing Terrastone is part of material handling. Second, unloading it from trucks and loading it onto them is considered material handling. Third, placing them onto and removing them from machines is considered material handling.
Terrastone Products and Storage
Storage is an important part of material handling. in fact, a Terrastone slab might sit in storage for a while before it is actually used as a countertop. Having somewhere to store a slab of Terrastone is important then. Because of this, many fabrication shops choose to use a Terrastone slab storage rack to keep the slabs in until they are ready for use.
Terrastone Transport Products
Fabrication shops require a number of pieces of equipment to operate smoothly. One of those is a single sided a frame cart for Terrastone or similar product. Why is that the case? Well, the easiest way to say it is that it makes the work easier and smoother by allowing the Terrastone slabs to be moved on a fixture rather than without one. Some of the transport carts can have casters (wheels) added to them so they can be loaded and rolled. Whether you are using a rolling cart in the shop or an a-frame along a wall of the delivery van, these units are practical.
Terrastone Loading & Unloading Equipment
Fabricators are always lifting slabs onto and off of machines, tables, saws, etc. And the slabs they are loading and unloading from these various locations are not light. That's why there are lifting machines of various kinds for loading Terrastone slabs and unloading them. One of the machines used for this is a scissor clamp for lifting Terrastone slabs. There are others too. The idea though is that this machine is able to hold the slab so that it can be lifted.
As we have seen in this article, handling Terrastone products is much easier when you are well equipped to do it effectively. By making use of material handling equipment that we have mentioned in this discussion, you will be equipped for the tasks you will encounter along the way.
